Description
This is one of our favourite varieties, and not yet that well known in New Zealand. The variety comes from Austria. Genetically it is related to Pinot Noir and to Riesling – and we think it suits Te Muna really well.
We make this in steel to let the fruit shine through, with a very slow, very cool ferment to enhance the aromatics, and then some time on lees with plenty of gentle stirring to add complexity and texture. The result is a luscious dry white wine, with pear drop and white nectarine characters, and a gentle spiciness.
